Our tallow

Know your fat. We will tell you.

Tallow buyers ask where it comes from, how it was rendered and whether anyone will say. Here is all of it, including what we do not claim.

Short answer

Every TallowPal product is handcrafted in the USA with third-party tested tallow. The tallow is pasture-raised, grass-fed, grass-finished beef suet tallow from small family farms, dry-rendered, food-grade, never bleached or deodorized, with no additives. Products are made in small batches by our own production team in Minneapolis. Every batch is made to a written formula and recorded with a lot number, so each unit traces back to its batch. Every product is palm-free.

These claims describe the tallow, not the finished products. Because the tallow is never deodorized, unscented products can carry a faint, natural tallow scent.

Third-party tested tallow

Our tallow is tested by an independent lab, and brands get the test documents for their records and for marketplace approvals.

Small batches, lot by lot

Every batch follows a written formula and gets a lot number. The lot code on each label traces the unit back to its batch.

Scent from essential oils

Scented products use essential oils, except Coconut Milk and Tallow Soap, which uses a coconut cream fragrance oil. Lip balm flavors come from natural flavorings, extracts and fruit or plant powders.

Glass where it counts

Balms come in amber glass jars and lotion in clear glass. Deodorant and lip balm use standard twist-up tubes.

Palm-free, every product

No product contains palm oil. Brands get the full ingredient list for every product to print on their labels.

Dated on every unit

Every unit carries a production date and a best-by date, so you and your customers always know how fresh it is.

Straight answers

What we do not claim.

Plenty of tallow brands promise more than they can show. We would rather you know exactly where the lines are.

  • Certified organic. We source organic tallow and beeswax where we can, but we are not certified, so "organic" appears only in ingredient lists.
  • GMP or ISO 22716 certified. We are not. We make every batch to a written formula with lot records, and we carry product liability insurance.
  • Skin results. We do not claim our products treat, heal or cure anything, and we keep those claims off your labels too.

Quality questions

Is it suet or trim tallow?

Suet. Every product is made with beef suet tallow, the firm fat from around the kidneys, dry-rendered and never bleached or deodorized.

Why does unscented balm smell a little?

Our tallow is never bleached or deodorized, so it keeps a faint natural scent. Scented formulas cover it.

Will balm melt in shipping?

Tallow balm can soften in summer heat, like butter, and firms back up at room temperature with no harm to the product. If a jar arrives broken, report it within 7 days with a photo and we replace or credit it.

Can I get ingredient percentages?

Full ingredient lists come with your account. For custom formulas through Wholesale Tallow Soap USA, ingredient percentages and a signed manufacturer's declaration are included.
